Mandy Cohen is the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. An internal medicine physician, Cohen previously led the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, was executive vice president at Aledade, and was CEO of Aledade Care Solution. Cohen earlier served as chief operating officer and chief of staff of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and acting director of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight. In 2019, Modern Healthcare named Cohen one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in Healthcare. In 2020, she was awarded the Leadership in Public Health Practice Award from Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health for leadership through the COVID pandemic. Cohen is a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
