Action Fellow Alumnus, Alliance for Climate Education; Youth Plaintiff, Juliana v. United States
Vic Barrett is one of 21 youth activists suing the government to take action on climate change in Juliana v. United States. The suit claims the government violated youth rights by allowing climate-harming activities and asks for progressive changes to carbon dioxide emissions. Barrett participated in the COP21 UN climate summit in Paris on behalf of the Alliance for Climate Education and most recently attended COP24 in Poland. Currently a student at University of Wisconsin, Madison, his activism began in high school working with the social justice group Global Kids. Since then, Barrett has marched in climate marches, organized peers in local campaigns, and represented young people as a speaker at the United Nations.
