
Stuart Eizenstat
Senior Counsel, Covington & Burling; Author, President Carter: The White House Years
Stuart Eizenstat is senior counsel at Covington & Burling and served in four presidential administrations. In the Obama administration, he was special advisor to state secretaries Clinton and Kerry on Holocaust issues. Roles in the Clinton administration included ambassador to the European Union, special representative on Holocaust-era issues, and positions in the Commerce, State, and Treasury departments. He was chief White House domestic policy advisor to President Carter and worked on Johnson’s staff. Eizenstat’s negotiations generated interest in providing belated justice to Holocaust and other victims of the Nazis. He has published three books, received nine honorary doctorate degrees, and has been awarded high civilian awards from multiple foreign governments.
