Richard J. Davidson is the William James and Vilas Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry and director of the Waisman Laboratory for Brain Imaging and Behavior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He founded the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the Waisman Center. His research is focused on the neural basis of emotion and emotional style and methods to promote human flourishing including meditation and other contemplative practices. Davidson has published over 320 articles and edited 14 books, including The Emotional Life of Your Brain. He was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time in 2006.
