Philip Kennicott

Art and Architecture Critic, The Washington Post

Philip Kennicott is the art and architecture critic of The Washington Post. He has been on staff at the Post since 1999, first as classical music critic, then as culture critic. He was a finalist for the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing opposing a conceal-carry gun referendum in Missouri and won a Pulitzer in 2013 for criticism. Kennicott was also an Emmy Award nominee in 2006 for web-based video journalism, for which he won a Cine Golden Eagle. He is a contributing editor at The New Republic, a reviewer for Gramophone, and a frequent contributor to Opera News.
