Nita Farahany is the Robinson O. Everett Distinguished Professor of Law and Philosophy and director of the Science and Society initiative at Duke University, where she also chairs the master of arts in bioethics and science policy program. From 2010 to 2017, she served on the U.S. Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues. Co-editor in chief and founder of the Journal of Law and the Biosciences, Farahany is the author of the forthcoming book, The Battle for Your Brain: Defending Your Right to Think Freely in the Age of Neurotechnology. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute, member of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council, and fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
