Nicole Carroll is editor in chief of USA Today, since 2018. Previously, she was vice president of news and editor of The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com, where she held several positions with increasing responsibility since 1999. During her time there, the paper was a two-time finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News; it won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Explanatory Reporting with the USA Today Network. Earlier, Carroll held reporting and editing jobs at the El Paso Times, USA Today, and the East Valley (Arizona) Tribune. Among other accolades, she was honored with the National Press Foundation’s 2017 Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year Award. Carroll has served as a juror for the Pulitzer Prizes three times.
