Mary O'Doherty is assistant director of the Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence (KCADV). She oversees the KCADV's Economic Justice Project, which over eleven years has helped more than 500 participants buy homes and vehicles, pursue post-secondary education and start small businesses. She was also responsible for development of KCADV Homes, an $8.8 million, using low-income housing tax credits to build a 48-unit supportive housing project for domestic violence victims. She's also spearheading the development of KCADV Homes-Lexington, 24 units of housing in the state's second largest city. She joined the non-profit world more than 12 years ago, following an 18-year career as a newspaper reporter and editor.
