​Mark Zaid is an attorney specializing in national security, international law, foreign sovereign and diplomatic immunity, and the Freedom of Information/Privacy acts. He often represents federal employees and members of the media against the US or foreign governments. Zaid founded and is executive director of the James Madison Project, which educates the public on intelligence, secrecy policies, national security, and government wrongdoing issues. He also co-founded Whistleblower Aid, a nonprofit law firm providing pro bono legal representation to whistleblowers, and is senior of counsel for Compass Rose Legal Group. Zaid teaches DC Bar continuing legal education classes in his specialty areas and is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University. He regularly testifies before various US governmental bodies.
