
Marion Nestle is Paulette Goddard Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health, Emerita, at New York University, in the department she chaired from 1988 to 2003 and from which she retired in 2017. Nestle’s research and writings examine scientific and socioeconomic influences on food choice, emphasizing the role of food industry marketing. She is the author, co-author or co-editor of fifteen books, several of them prize-winning, most notably “Food Politics.” Two new books, “The Fish Counter” and “What to Eat Now,” will be published in 2025. Her current book project is about how cereal boxes illustrate food policy and culture. Nestle has received many honors and awards, most recently The Edinburgh Medal in 2023 and the Hopkins School of Public Health Dean’s Medal in 2025. She blogs at www.foodpolitics.com.
