JR is an artist who exhibits freely in the streets of the world. In 2006, he created Portrait of a Generation where his portraits of suburban “thugs” were posted in bourgeois districts in Paris. He collaborated with Marco in 2007 on “Face 2 Face,” illegally posting giant portraits of Israelis and Palestinians face to face in eight Palestinian and Israeli cities. His film Women Are Heroes was presented at Cannes. In 2011, he received a TED Prize for “Inside Out,” an international participatory art project. Recent projects include a collaboration with New York City Ballet, a huge installation on the Pantheon in Paris, and the pasting of a container ship.
