Jon
Batiste is
a virtuoso pianist, bandleader, composer, record producer, educator, and actor.
He is co-artistic director of the National Jazz Museum and performs with this
band, Stay Human, on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Batiste provided
original jazz compositions for the forthcoming Disney and Pixar film Soul
and is completing an album with the lead single, “We Are,” recently released
for the Black Lives Matter movement. His symphonic work, American Symphony,
will be performed at Carnegie Hall in 2021. Born into a long lineage of Louisiana
musicians, Batiste began self-producing and releasing music as a teenager. Among
other honors, his major label debut, Hollywood Africans, was nominated
for a 2019 Grammy Award for Best American Roots Performance.
