Lieutenant Governor of Colorado
Joe Garcia is lieutenant governor of Colorado, elected in 2010 as the running mate of Gov. John Hickenlooper, and executive director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education. Prior to his election, he was president of Colorado State University, Pueblo.
Garcia was executive director of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies under former governor Roy Romer and served on the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority under two governors, going on to chair that board. In the Clinton administration, he served as the Rocky Mountain States representative for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Garcia started his career as the first Hispanic partner of Holme, Roberts, and Owen, LLP.
