Joanne Lipman is senior vice president and chief content officer of Gannett and editor in chief of USA Today and the USA Today Network. Previously, she was founding editor in chief of Conde Nast Portfolio magazine and Portfolio.com. Lipman began her career reporting for The Wall Street Journal, ultimately becoming its first woman deputy managing editor and supervising coverage that won three Pulitzer Prizes. She created the paper’s Weekend Journal and Personal Journal sections and oversaw creation of the Saturday edition. Lipman co-authored the music memoir Strings Attached and authored an upcoming book about closing the gender gap at work. She won the Matrix Award for women in communications.
