Jimmy Samartzis is CEO and board director of LanzaJet, a sustainable fuels technology and aviation fuel production firm. He leads development of a commercial, ethanol-based alcohol to jet biorefinery, as well as clean energy transition projects in 25 countries. Prior to this, Samartzis held executive positions at United Airlines, including vice president and chief executive of a business unit and vice president of customer experience. Previously, he was senior associate of strategy and transformation practice at Booz Allen Hamilton. In government, Samartzis served in President Clinton’s administration at the White House and the U.S. Department of Labor. He was also an economic revitalization analyst in the Chicago mayor’s office. Samartzis is a University of Chicago Energy Policy Institute advisory board member and Loyola Academy trustee.
