Jessica Herzstein is an independent consultant in preventive medicine and occupational and environmental health. She teaches at the University of Pennsylvania and does research in clinical preventive services; her areas of interest include effective clinician-patient communication for decision-making in preventive services and behavior change in the context of chronic disease prevention. Herzstein has worked in academic medicine and in community hospital-based primary care. For 17 years, she was global medical director at a Fortune 300 manufacturing company. Herzstein participates in setting national guidelines for screening and counseling services as a member of the US Preventive Services Task Force. She has written and edited books in environmental and occupational medicine.
