Jane Shaw is dean for religious life and a professor of religious studies at Stanford University. She was dean of Grace Cathedral in San Francisco from 2010 to 2014. Prior to moving to the United States in 2010, she taught history and theology at the University of Oxford for 16 years and was dean of divinity and a fellow of New College, Oxford. Shaw is the author of Miracles in Enlightenment England; Octavia, Daughter of God: The Story of a Female Messiah and her Followers; and A Practical Christianity. She is currently working on a project on empathy, the arts, and social change with actress and playwright Anna Deavere Smith.
