Husain Haqqani is director for South and Central Asia at the Hudson Institute and professor of the practice of international relations at Boston University. He served as Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States from 2008 to 2011. He has been a journalist, academic, diplomat and advisor to four Pakistani prime ministers, including the late Benazir Bhutto. He is the author, most recently, of Magnificent and Pakistan Between Mosque and Military, which is acclaimed for explaining the roots of Pakistan’s foreign and domestic policies.
