Howard Shrobe is a principal research scientist at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). There, he leads CyberSecurity@CSAIL, a research collaboration between CSAIL and several sponsoring companies. Shrobe joined the MIT AI lab as a research scientist in 1978; it later merged to become CSAIL. He shared time between MIT and Symbolics, a spinoff of the AI lab that made a novel hardware/software system for AI software development, and eventually became vice president of technology. He has also twice served as a program manager at the DARPA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of the US Department of Defense, focusing on cybersecurity.
