Director, Museum of Modern Art, New York
Glenn Lowry is the sixth director of The Museum of Modern Art, a position he has held since 1995. He has lectured and written extensively in support of contemporary art and the role of museums in society. Lowry was previously director of the Art Gallery of Ontario, curator of Near Eastern Art at Smithsonian’s Sackler Gallery and Freer Gallery of Art, and director of the College of William and Mary’s Muscarelle Museum of Art. He serves on Mori Art Museum’s international advisory committee, Istanbul Modern’s international advisory board, and the steering committee for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.
