Gayle Tzemach Lemmon is an author, journalist, and senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. She wrote Ashley’s War: The Untold Story of a Team of Women Soldiers on the Special Ops Battlefield and the best-seller The Dressmaker of Khair Khana, contributes to Atlantic Media’s Defense One website, and has written for Newsweek, Financial Times, International Herald Tribune, the World Bank, and Harvard Business School. Lemmon was previously a vice president at the investment firm PIMCO and worked at ABC News. She was a Fulbright scholar and Robert Bosch fellow, and her 2011 TED Talk on investing in women was a TED Talk of the Day.
