Erika Meitner is a professor of English at University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she directs the MFA program in creative writing and the Conney Project on Jewish Arts. Meitner is the author of six books of poems, including “Ideal Cities,” “Copia,” “Useful Junk,” and “Holy Moly Carry Me,” which won the 2018 National Jewish Book Award. Her newest work, “Assembled Audience,” a book of poems on climate change, is due out in 2026. Meitner also collaborates on larger-scale documentary photo/text projects on urban environments. These include “This is Not a Requiem for Detroit” and an ongoing project on Miami and sea-level rise. Her poems have been published in The New Yorker, Orion, Virginia Quarterly Review, and elsewhere.
