Eli J. Finkel is a professor at Northwestern University with appointments in psychology and in the Kellogg School of Management. Most of his research revolves around two broad topics: romantic relationships and self-control. For example, he explores how technological developments influence dating and courtship, and he develops tools to help people sustain passion in their marriage. The recipient of several awards, Finkel is a regular contributor to the op-ed page at The New York Times, the author of articles in Scientific American Mind and in numerous industry journals, and co-editor of two books: Advanced Social Psychology and Self and Relationships: Connecting Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Processes.
