Cynthia Schneider is Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University, where, from 1984 to 2005, she taught art history and published on Rembrandt and Dutch art. She teaches, publishes, and organizes initiatives in the field of cultural diplomacy. She leads the Arts and Culture Initiative at Brookings Institution and co-directs Muslims on Screen and Television, a nonprofit that provides resources and information on Islam and Muslims for the US entertainment community. From 1998 to 2001, Schneider was US ambassador to the Netherlands.
