Common is a hip-hop artist, actor, and activist. Focusing his social justice and advocacy work on mass incarceration, mental health and voting, he launched the nonprofit Imagine Justice and the Common Ground Foundation, which operates educational programs in Chicago. Common has released 14 albums, most recently “A Beautiful Revolution Part 1,” from which the track “A Place in This World” was used in Michelle Obama’s 2020 get-out-the-vote campaign, and “A Beautiful Revolution Part 2.” A television and film producer and actor, his recent film credits include “Breathe,” “Ava” and “The Informer.” “Selma” included his song “Glory,” which won an Academy Award and Golden Globe. Common is the author of the memoirs “One Day It’ll All Make Sense” and “Let Love Have the Last Word.”
