
Clint Smith
Poet; Educator; PhD Candidate, Harvard Graduate School of Education
Clint Smith is a teacher, writer, and doctoral candidate in education at Harvard University. A National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship recipient, his research interests include mass incarceration, race, and inequality. Previously, he taught high school English in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where the Maryland Humanities Council named him 2013 Teacher of the Year. Smith is a 2014 National Poetry Slam champion, an Individual World Poetry Slam finalist, and his writing has been published in the The New Yorker, The Guardian, and American Literary Review. His TED Talks, The Danger of Silence and How to Raise a Black Son in America, collectively have been viewed more than four million times.
