
Christine Moutier
Chief Medical Officer, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Christine Moutier is chief medical officer for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a role she’s held since 2013, advising on evidence-based suicide-prevention strategies. Throughout her career, Moutier has focused on training in order to change the health care system’s approach to mental health. Previously, she was a psychology professor and assistant dean at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine; medical director of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at the VA Medical Center in La Jolla, CA; and a practicing psychiatrist. Moutier has been clinically active with diverse patient populations, such as veterans, Asian refugees, and physicians and leaders with mental health conditions.
