Christine Yu Moutier is chief medical officer for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, dedicated to fighting this leading cause of death after her own lived experience and losing colleagues to suicide. Serving as an expert nationally and abroad, she has testified before Congress and the White House and provided congressional briefings on suicide prevention. Previously, Moutier was a psychology professor and assistant dean at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine; medical director of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at the VA Medical Center in La Jolla, CA; and a practicing psychiatrist. Moutier co-anchored CNN’s Emmy Award-winning “Finding Hope” suicide prevention town hall and authored the handbook Suicide Prevention.
