Chris Varelas

Chris Varelas is a founding partner of Riverwood Capital, a private equity firm scaling high-growth technology and technology-related companies. Prior to this, he was head of Citi’s national investment bank and, before that, global head of technology, media, and telecom investment banking. Varelas was also a global operating committee member and culture czar at Citi. A trustee and senior moderator of the Aspen Institute, he is a co-founder of Aspen Finance Leaders Fellowship, formed to produce effective, enlightened financial services industry leaders. Varelas is the author of “How Money Became Dangerous: The Inside Story of Our Turbulent Relationship with Modern Finance.” He is lead director of Nextdoor and a board member of Insider.com.
