Chris Rainier is a National Geographic Society Fellow and documentary photographer. At the National Geographic Society, he has been co-director of the Enduring Voices Language Project and the All Roads Photography Program and director of The Last Mile Technology Program. He is also creating a global digital archive of the world’s most endangered languages and cultural knowledge. Rainier was awarded the Lowell Thomas Award by the Explorers Club for his efforts on cultural preservation, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society of London. Rainier has published five books, most recently Cultures on the Edge.
