Director, US Peace Corps
Carrie Hessler-Radelet is director of the Peace Corps. She has previously served as acting director twice since her initial appointment as its deputy director in 2010. Prior to that, she was vice president and director of John Snow Inc., a global public-health organization. She helped establish the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and was a primary author of its first strategic plan. Hessler-Radelet was also a Johns Hopkins Fellow with USAID in Indonesia. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Western Samoa from 1981 to 1983. Hessler-Radelet has lived and worked in more than 50 countries.
