
Carolyn Clancy is deputy undersecretary for health for organizational excellence at the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in the US Department of Veteran Affairs. Previously, she was interim undersecretary for health at the VHA and served for ten years as director of the federal Agency for Healthcare Quality Research. A general internist and health services researcher, she holds an academic appointment at George Washington University School of Medicine. Clancy has contributed to eight academic text books and more than 225 scholarly journal articles. She most recently received the 2014 Quality Champion Award from the National Committee for Quality Assurance and was named an honorary fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
