Caroline Baumann is director of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, since 2013, prior to which she held various leadership positions for 12 years. Since she spearheaded a capital campaign and led its renovation and expansion, the museum has broken attendance records and won honors. Baumann previously held senior roles at MoMA. A panelist for the 2017 US Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, she’s a member of the Applied Arts and Design Museum Network, Royal College of Art U.S.A. board, NYCxDesign Steering Committee, Fast Company’s Impact Council, and RISD Board of Trustees. Baumann was awarded the rank of Chevalier of France’s Order of Arts and Letters.
