
Camille François is an assistant professor of practice at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Her research focuses on advancing open-source AI with an emphasis on pluralism, transparency, and ethical innovation. François is also the founding president of ROOST (Robust Open Online Safety Tools). Previously, she was senior director for trust and safety at Niantic. Prior to this, François was chief innovation officer at Graphika. Her public interest missions have included investigating Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election for the Senate Select Intelligence Committee and leading the French government’s 2022 inquiry into economic opportunities and societal challenges of the metaverse. François was named to Time’s 100 Next list of emerging leaders in 2019.
