
Betsy Nabel

Betsy Nabel is president of Brigham Health, a Harvard-affiliated academic medical system that includes Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, and the Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization. A cardiologist and biomedical researcher, her leadership hallmarks include greater collaborations, patient-inclusive care, and innovation in personalized therapies and translational medicine. Previously, as director of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Nabel established genomics and stem cell programs, founded the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases, and launched the Red Dress Heart Truth campaign. Named a top national leader in medicine by Modern Healthcare, her research on the molecular genetics of cardiovascular diseases produced 17 patents and more than 250 scientific publications.
