Bart Roep is founding chair of the Department of Diabetes Immunology at City of Hope. An authority and key opinion leader on multiple aspects of type 1 diabetes, Roep has particular interest in understanding the cause of the disease and translating this knowledge into immune intervention strategies, with the ultimate goal of curing it within the next six years. Over the past 25 years, Roep has been honored with multiple scientific and medical awards, including the most prestigious national and European awards in diabetes, such as the Minkowski Prize for outstanding contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the field of diabetes.
