Director of Marijuana Coordination, Office of the Governor, State of Colorado
Andrew Freedman is the State of Colorado’s first director of marijuana coordination. His job is to ensure efficient and effective regulation of the state’s retail and medical marijuana industries while protecting public health, maintaining public safety and keeping marijuana away from children. Prior to his appointment, Freedman was director of the Colorado Commits to Kids education funding campaign. He worked as chief of staff to Colorado Lt. Governor Joe Gracia, with whom he created the Office of Early Childhood Education. He also worked to pass the READ act and collaborated with Mile High United Way to start the Colorado Reading Corps. He is a Colorado native.
