Youth Plaintiff, Juliana v. United States
Alexander Loznak is one of the 21 youth plaintiffs represented by legal nonprofit Our Children’s Trust in the US Supreme Court case Juliana v. United States, which challenges the US government’s policies that exacerbate climate change. He grew up on an organic farm in Oregon that his family has owned for over 150 years. Loznak was involved in local efforts to install solar panels on his high school and block the Pacific Connector natural gas pipeline. In May 2019, he graduated from Columbia University with a major in sustainable development and minor in political science. He earned departmental honors for his research thesis exploring the relationship between climate change and the 2018 US elections.
