Director General, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention
Yu Wang is director general of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Since 2004, he has led a variety of efforts, including pandemic influenza preparedness and response, swine streptococosis outbreak control, and ensuring public health safety during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Wang was previously deputy director general of the Rural and Social Development Department in China’s Ministry of Science and Technology and deputy director of China Biomedical Engineering Development Center. From 1985 to 2000, he was a researcher at Peking Medical University, director of its Institute of Hepatology, and vice president of Peking University Health Science Center.
