Yoshinori Ohno is a retired Japanese politician. He most recently served as Japan’s minister of state for defense, from 2004 to 2012. Ohno tackled the reform of the Japanese pension system as chairman of the Pension Research Committee of the Liberal Democratic Party and worked on monetary problems as chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee. He was first elected to Japan’s House of Representatives in 1986 and served in a number of roles, including working on education, culture, sports, science, technology, and telecommunications. Ohno previously worked for the Ministry of Finance for 20 years.
