Yoni Appelbaum

Senior Editor for Politics and Policy, The Atlantic

Yoni Appelbaum is the senior editor for politics and policy at The Atlantic, a position he has held since 2015. He came to The Atlantic in an unconventional way: as a frequent commenter on the site, in particular to posts by national correspondent Ta-Nehisi Coates. He eventually was asked to be a contributing writer. A social and cultural historian, Appelbaum was previously a lecturer on history and literature at Harvard University. Prior to Harvard, he taught at Babson College and at Brandeis University, where he received his PhD in American history, focusing on the associative republicanism of the mid to late 19th century.
