Yi Cui is an associate professor in materials science at Stanford University, working on nanomaterials design for energy conversion and storage. He is a co-director of the Bay Area Photovoltaics Consortium, funded by the US Department of Energy, and an associate editor of Nano Letters. He has published 270 research papers and is among the most cited scientists in the world. In 2008, Cui founded Amprius, a company to commercialize high-energy battery technology. The batteries he invented have started being used in commercial markets, which could potentially revolutionize portable electronics and transportation applications. Cui has won numerous awards recognizing his scientific contributions.
