Tsutomu Ioroi

Tsutomu Ioroi is an electrochemist at Osaka National Research Institute, part of Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. His work involves electrocatalysis for fuel cells. Since joining Osaka National Research Institute in 1997, Ioroi has been studying polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs), the subject of several national research projects. He began researching titanium oxide-based catalyst support in 2004 and got a grant for fuel cell research in 2005. After three years of research and development, the project moved into the next phase and became a joint project with several fuel cell companies, receiving financial support from the government.
