Tom Fanning is chairman, president, and CEO of Southern Company, one of the largest energy providers in the United States with over nine million customers in 19 states. During his 36-plus-year career at Southern Company, Fanning has held 15 different positions, including COO, CFO, and CIO. He is a strong advocate for a commonsense national energy policy that embraces energy’s potential to drive economic growth and improve the lives of Americans. Fanning serves on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, is a member of the American Energy Innovation Council, and co-chairs the Electricity Subsector Coordinating Council, an industry-government partnership working to prepare infrastructure for cyber and physical threats.
