Director, The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Thomas P. Campbell is director of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Since assuming the post in 2009, Campbell has focused on scholarship and accessibility. These priorities maintain the museum’s excellence in its exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and permanent collections while encouraging new thinking about the visitor experience. In 2012, the Met has had its highest attendance in 40 years, rising to 6.28 million. Last year, the museum also opened new galleries for its Islamic and American art. Campbell has been at the Met since 1995.
