President and CEO, The Jordan Davis Foundation
Ron Davis is the father of Jordan Davis, the unarmed, black 17-year-old who was shot and killed in a Jacksonville, FLA, gas station parking lot for playing loud music. He is CEO and president of The Jordan Davis Foundation and on the planning committee for the US Human Rights Network. He works to stop the use of “stand your ground” laws to justify unprovoked killings. In 2014, Davis spoke at a United Nations conference in Geneva, prompting UN representatives to condemn policies of racial discrimination against people of color in the US. The award-winning documentary about Jordan’s murder, “3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets,” is scheduled for theatrical release this summer.
