Rohan Fernandes is an assistant professor with the bioengineering initiative of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Children’s National Health System. He engineers novel nanoparticles as surgery-free agents for imaging and therapy of pediatric diseases. His team has developed Prussian blue nanoparticles as theranostic (therapy and diagnostics) agents for pediatric cancers and inflammatory diseases, among other projects. Fernandes, who joined Children’s National in 2011 after completing his postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins, collaborates with investigators at University of Maryland and the NIH. He is also an assistant professor of radiology and of pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. (Festival Underwriter Presenter)
