Richard Levin

Richard Levin is CEO of Coursera and the Frederick William Beinecke Professor of Economics and Director of the Project on US-China Relations at Yale University. He completed a 20-year term as Yale’s president in 2013, during which time the university advanced economic development in New Haven; strengthened programs in science, engineering, and medicine; and undertook initiatives to internationalize the university, including opening Yale-NUS College in Singapore. An economist, Levin started as an assistant economics professor at Yale in 1974. He was appointed to the Iraq Intelligence Commission in 2004 and has served on panels reviewing the US Postal Service and Major League Baseball economics.
