Richard Dawkins is an evolutionary biologist, ethologist, and author. He came to prominence with the 1976 publication of The Selfish Gene,and has gone on to publish numerous other popular books, including The Blind Watchmaker and The God Delusion. He is a fellow of both the Royal Society and the Royal Society of Literature. He has won the Michael Faraday Award, the Shakespeare Prize, and the International Cosmos Prize. Dawkins retired from the Charles Simonyi Professorship in 2008 and remains a fellow of New College, Oxford. He was named the world’s top thinker in a 2013 poll of more than 10,000 readers of Prospect magazine.
