is a program officer in the US program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where her work is focused on the Foundation’s postsecondary success strategy to increase the number of low-income young adults who complete credentials with labor market value. Prior to joining the Gates Foundation, Patel served as director of programs at the Washington Area Women’s Foundation. Previously, Patel was a senior policy analyst at the Center for Law and Social Policy. Before joining CLASP, Patel worked at the National Legal Aid and Defender Association as program coordinator for the Project for the Future of Equal Justice. She also previously served as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University.
