Nassim Nicholas Taleb is distinguished professor of risk engineering at the Polytechnic Institute at New York University. He is a principal at Universa Investments. Taleb is also the author of The New York Times best-seller The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable (Random House, 2007). Taleb is combination of a scholar of randomness and risk, literary essayist, and derivatives trader. He is known for a multidisciplinary approach to the role of the high-impact rare event (the "Black Swan"). His current program is to design ways to live in a world we don't quite understand and to help "robustify" the world against the Black Swan.
